1. No 4 or No 10
You can make this bet and take it down at anytime. You can bet both the 4 and 10 at the same time. What you are doing is laying the odds ( say $40 ) that a 7 will be thrown before a 4 or 10. This is one of the better bets you can make. Notice on the table that there isn't any wording about this bet, unlike the large lettered field and come. It's so advantageous to the player that the casino charges you a 5% vig on the amount of money you'll win.
Simply say to the dealer that you want a No 4 for $40. You put down $41 ( 5% on a $20 win is $1 ) and the dealer will put your money in the don't come box above the 4. Now you hope a 7 is thrown before a 4.
A win will pay $20. You can take the No 4 bet of $40 down or pay another dollar and leave it up.
I like to make this bet after a 4 or 10 is thrown. Most shooters will 7 out after 4 rolls and it is less likely that they will throw a second 4 or 10 before a 7. I also follow how often the 4 and 10 are being thrown at the tables. If a lot of 4's are coming up, I'll favor the 10.
This bet can be hedged with a bet on the hard 4 or 10.
The downside to this bet is that you are risking twice as much money as you'll win. A 4 or 10 coming up before a 7 is a bankroll killer.
This method is good on a choppy or cold table.

2. Pass with 2 come bets
This is another method of play that most beginner guides recommend.
What you do is make a pass line bet and take 2x odds. When a point is established you place a bet in the come box. If a number ( say 5 ) is thrown, this becomes your come bet number and your bet is placed in the 5 box. Now you can take 2x odds.
You make another bet on the come. Say a 8 is thrown. Your money is placed in the 8 box and you take 2x odds.
Now you have 3 numbers covered. If you win one of your come bets, you are paid and you would then make another bet in the come.
What you are trying to do is to have 3 numbers working for you at all times. You can take advantage of a of hot roll betting like this. When you are on a hot table, you can make an extra come bet for every point the shooter makes till you have all the numbers covered.
The downside is if a 7 is thrown early or if a 7 is thrown before you win any of your bets.
This method is good to start play at a table. It can also be used on a hot table. After every point a shooter makes, you increase your come bet by one unit.

3. Place bets on the 6 and 8
These are the two best numbers to place bet.
There are five ways to make a 6 and five ways to make an 8. That's 10 ways to make either number. A 7 can be made in six ways.
You can place bet a number that is also the point. A place bet can be taken down or made off at anytime. A place bet on either number pays 6 to 5.
All you have to do is have either or the same number hit twice before a 7 and you'll show a profit.
Downside here is an early 7 or no 6 or 8 being thrown before a 7.
This method is good to start play at a table and good for a choppy table. It can also be used on a hot table. You have to press your bet after every other hit for the life of the roll.

4. 6 and 8 regression
Using this method you can make a profit with just one hit.
You place bet the 6 and 8 for $12 each. You have a hit on either number and you reduce your bets to $6 each. You have a $2 profit and you can't get hurt by the 7. You can leave the bets up for another hit, then take them down or just leave them up for the life of the roll.
Another variation is to wait for a 7 to be thrown, then place the 6 and 8 for one hit.
Downside is an early 7.
This method is good to start play at a table and good for a choppy table. It can also be used on a hot table. You have to press your bet after every other hit for the life of the roll.

I start by charting the tables to find out which ones are producing 6's and 8's. I will only play at a table whereby at least 2 shooters have successfully shot 2 6's or 8's (any combinations) before they 7 out.
I skip the come out and I place $18 on the 6 and 8. If a 6 or 8 hits I regress my 6 or 8 down to $6 each, and place either the 5 or 9 for $5. I collected $21 and now have $17 at risk with 3 numbers and a $4 profit!
After 3 hits I take everything down with a $42 profit. I will often throw $1 or $2 on a hardway while I'm down to keep my interest in the game. If I feel the shooter is on a hot roll I will alternate every other one with taking my winnings back (same bet) and pressing the bet(s) until the shooter 7 outs thus building up my place bets and wins at the casinos expense.
The worse thing that could hurt you is if a 7 comes out before the 6 or 8. If this happens 3 times in a row I'm out charting another table. If I find myself winning more than loosing I up my $18 bets on the 6&8 to $24, $30 or sometimes $36. Sometimes it feels like a slow grind but I love the feeling I get when that first 6 or 8 shows up guaranteeing me a winner with that shooter.

5. Don't Pass

I normally don't bet the don't pass until at least two shooters have sevened out in a row. When that happens I make a $10 don't pass bet and I only lay full odds when the point is 4 or 10. If the table is really cold, I'll lay the odds on the other point numbers and make a $5 hardway bet. For example: The point is 6, I'll lay full odds and make a $5 hardway bet on the 6.
Downside is the table turning hot.
Good for a cold table.

6. Don't come

I like to make this bet when there are only a few rolls before a seven or a point is made.
If the don't come is on the 4 or 10, I'll lay full odds.
If I have any don't comes working on the come out, I'll lay full odds, hoping for a 7. When a point is established, I'll remove the odds off all numbers except the 4 and 10. If the table is really cold, I'll leave the odds on.
I make two don't come bets when I feel that the table is choppy or cold. If the shooter hits on of your don'ts, you would make another. If the shooter hits another one of your don'ts, you would just sit out the shooter and make no more bets. For each shooter that sevens out, I'll make another don't come bet.
Downside is for many numbers being thrown.
Good for a choppy or cold table.

7. Lay bets with don't pass

You make a $40 don't pass bet and lay bet the 4 and 10 for $40 each. Put $2 on the yo.
You'll lose $2 with a 7, you'll lose $10 with a yo. 2 and 3 is a win, a 12 is a push.
After a point is established, you take down the lay bets on the 4 and 10 and lay full odds on the don't pass bet.
If a 4 or 10 becomes the point, you take down the other lay bet and lay full odds on the don't pass bet.
If the table is really cold, you can leave the lay bets on the 4 and 10 working.
You can try to hedge your 4 and 10 with $5 on each hardway.
Downside is the table turning hot.
Good for a cold table.

8. Three hits

Do not make a pass/don't pass bet.
After a point is established, make a $18 bet on the 6 & 8.
On the first hit ( $21 win) you would cut back your bets on the 6 & 8 to $6 each. ( You are now risking only $12.)
On the second hit on the 6 or 8 you would place the 5 & 9 for $5 each.
If a 5,6,8,9 is thrown you collect your winnings and take down your bets.
Don't make any more bets till the next point.
Downside is a seven before your first 6 or 8 is hit..
Good for a choppy table.

9. 7 Method

Way

You place $44 inside.
You leave the bets working for just one roll, then call the bets off. If you win you press the bet by one unit.
You wait for a seven and call your bets on for one roll with the next shooter. You keep repeating the process till two sevens in a row are thrown.
Downside is the enormous patience and discipline needed to stand there waiting for the seven while numbers are being thrown
Good for choppy and cold tables.

10. $34 inside

You chart the inside numbers before you decide how long to leave up your bets.
$12 each on the 6 and 8. $5 each on the 5 and 9. After the first hit you regress to $6 each on the 6 and 8. Depending on how you charted the table, you would take down or leave up the 5 and 9. After the second hit, depending on your chart you can take your bets down or leave them working.
This method has sensible betting and it looks to limit your risk while still being able to take advantage or a good roll.
Downside is an early seven.
Good for a hot table.

Most casino games are designed in a way that discourages professional players from participating. You can find professional poker players, professional blackjack players, and professional sports bettors. But you’ve probably never heard of professional roulette or baccarat players.

A few people claim to be professional craps players, but these people are also usually trying to sell you a book or seminar on dice control. I’m not here today to argue about the possibility of dice control. I’m going to teach you how to play craps like a professional based on the odds and traditional house edge numbers.

Like all casino games, craps has a house edge built in. But unlike other casino games, there’s a bet available at the craps table that doesn’t have a house edge. Pros know all about this special bet and always use it when they can.

In addition to this special wager, craps also offers two other bets that have a low house edge. I’m going to teach you about these bets, too. You can make many other bets when you play craps, but if you want to play like a pro, there are only a few bets you’re ever going to make. I cover all of them below.

Safest Way To Play Craps Video Poker

1 – Pass Line Wager

Every time you gamble, you need to be concerned and educated about the available wagers and the house edge of the bets you can make. Not only should you limit your play to the games that have the lowest house edge wagers, you also need to make sure you only make the best craps bets.

The good news is that craps has a few bets with a low house edge. And if you stick with them and avoid all of the other available bets at the table, you can play with a lower house edge than most other casino games offer.

The pass line wager is the most popular bet made at the craps table. Most craps players feel that making the pass line bet is the best way to play, because in a way, when they make this bet, they’re rooting for the shooter to win.

A pass line wager has a house edge of 1.41%. This is lower than almost every slot machine, most table games, roulette, and some blackjack games. A pass line wager also often takes several rolls of the dice to resolve, so you can play longer using the same bankroll than when you play many games.

But the pass line bet isn’t the best bet available at the craps table. It isn’t even the second best bet available. The best bet is an odds bet, which I cover later. The way that craps is designed, you have to make either the second- or third-best available wager before you’re allowed to make the best bet.

The second-best bet at the craps table is the don’t pass line wager. You can learn more about this bet in the next section.

2 – Don’t Pass Line Wager

The second-best bet you can make playing craps, and the best option for the come out roll, is the don’t pass line wager. The house edge is only 1.36%, making it one of the best wagers in the casino.

I mentioned in the last section that most craps players prefer to make a pass line bet instead of a don’t pass line wager. The don’t pass line is often called betting the dark side or going over to the dark side. I always recommend making the bet offering the lowest house edge, and in the long run, the don’t pass bet is the best come out bet you can make.

But if you make a don’t pass line wager, you might receive some negative feedback or reactions from the other players at the table. This shouldn’t matter, because you can make any bet you want. After all, it’s your money, and you should be able to do whatever you want to do with it.

However, if you want to avoid the wrath of other players, you can stick with the pass line wager. And in the long run, it doesn’t cost you much.

If you make $100,000 worth of come out bets in a year, the difference in your expected loss between the pass line and don’t pass line bets is only $50. In other words, if you make 1,000 bets of $100, you only lose an average of five cents on each bet more than you’d lose betting on the don’t pass line.

3 – Full Odds

Possibly the best bet in the casino, the odds bet at the craps table doesn’t even have a spot listed on the felt. After a point has been established on the come out roll, you can place an odds bet by placing your chips behind your original pass line or don’t pass line wager.

The odds bet has a zero house edge, which makes it unique.

The way the payouts for an odds bet are designed, in the long run, you break even on all of your odds wagers. This might not sound like a great bet, but the casino doesn’t have any other bets that are offered at fair odds.

You still have to deal with the house edge on your original line bet, because the casinos don’t let you make an odds wager unless you make a line wager first. But you can usually make a much larger odds wager than line wager, so it helps lower your effective house edge when you make a full odds wager.

The amount of the odds bet you can make varies from casino to casino, with a few casinos offering odds bets as high as 100 times your line bet. Probably the most common odds bet size allowed is 10 times. It doesn’t matter what the maximum odds bet amount is; you should always take the maximum if your bankroll is big enough.

Safest Way To Play Craps Machines

When you’re playing craps online, most software providers have a spot behind your come out bet where you click to place an odds bet. Like land-based craps tables, the odds bet is not marked on the table when you play online.

4 – Play Online Craps

I’m a big supporter of playing casino games online. I like the ease of use, the ability to play without travel, and the ability to control how fast you play. While these things are also true with craps, the one difference is that I recommend playing land-based craps at least one or two times, even if you usually play online.

The way the game of craps is played isn’t really different online versus in a land-based casino. The mechanics of the game are the same, but the feel of the game is entirely different. Most craps tables are the loudest and happiest place in a land based casino. It’s almost like a family atmosphere where everyone at the table is having fun and rooting for each other.

This is fun for many players, but some players don’t like the noise and being around wild players. Still, I suggest trying land-based craps at least a few times in your life to see if you enjoy it.

The Bottom Line:

Craps has a house edge no matter what you do. You simply can’t overcome the house edge in the long run. But you can control how much you risk and how fast you play when you play online.

You also can find online casinos willing to give you a bonus to use when you play craps online. You need to read the terms and conditions of every online bonus offer closely, because some of them restrict your play. But a bonus can help extend your bankroll so you can play craps longer and afford to make higher odds bets.

Conclusion

Here’s the perfect formula if you want to play craps like a pro! Play at an online casino site that offers a large craps bonus and low minimum bets. Play for the table minimum and always make the don’t pass line wager and back it up with full odds. This makes your bankroll last as long as possible and reduces the house edge as low as possible.

The most important thing you need to do in addition to the formula above is make sure you have a large enough bankroll so you can always take the maximum available odds. If you’re playing at a table that offers 100 times odds and you’re making $50 come out bets, the maximum odds bet is $5,000. This requires a huge bankroll. If you can’t afford this much, make smaller come out bets.
